Abstract

Classification ability is an essential component of cognitive development in early
childhood, as it forms the foundation for logical thinking and concept understanding. However,
learning practices in early childhood education often face challenges due to limited learning
media and low student concentration. This study aimed to improve the ability of children aged
4–6 years to classify animals, vegetables, and fruits through interactive learning media. The
research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a pre-test and post-test design.
The participants consisted of 15 children at Kober SKB Kota Tasikmalaya. Data were collected
through observation, interviews with tutors, and classification ability tests. The interactive
learning media used in this study involved a game-based activity where children grouped
pictures of animals, vegetables, and fruits into appropriate categories using visual boards. The
results showed a significant improvement in children’s classification ability, with the average
score increasing from 35 in the pre-test to 85 in the post-test. In addition to cognitive
improvement, the interactive media also enhanced children’s concentration, active
participation, and social interaction during the learning process. These findings indicate that
interactive game-based learning media are effective and suitable for supporting cognitive
development in early childhood education.
