Abstract

Self confidence in individuals is very important as capital to improve the quality of life, but in the Ciamis Care Support Peer Support Group (KDS) there are still people with HIV/AIDS (PLHWA) who are not confident because of their status as PLHWA. Most PLHWA  who are not confident have poor family closeness. This study aims to determine the effect of family ties on the self-confidence of PLWHA in KDS Ciamis Care Support. The method used in this research is quantitative research method. The sampling technique used incidental sampling technique with a sample size of 30 respondents. From the results of hypothesis testing, a significant value of 0.011 or less than the 5% error rate was obtained. Thus, there is a significant influence between family ties on the self-confidence of PLWHA. The correlation coefficient value is 0.457, so it is included in the moderate category. The Determinant Coefficient (R²) obtained is 21%. In other words, family ties contribute 21% of the influence on self-confidence, and 79% is the contribution of other variables not included in the research model. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that family ties affect the self-confidence of PLWHA at KDS Ciamis Care Support.
