Abstract

Abstract. This study explores the historical development of Pancasila, the ideological foundation of Indonesia, tracing its roots from ancient kingdoms such as Kutai, Sriwijaya, Singasari, Majapahit, Sunda, and Mataram. Utilizing a literature review method, the research analyzes the evolution and implementation of Pancasila through various historical phases: the exploration during the kingdom era, the formulation and ratification in the BPUPK sessions in 1945, and its application during the Old Order, New Order, and Reformasi periods. The values of Pancasila are reflected in the social, political, and spiritual practices of these kingdoms, such as the Kenduri in Kutai, the Buddhist teachings in Sriwijaya, cultural openness in Singasari, religious tolerance in Majapahit, the principles of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh, and Silih Wawangi in Sunda, and the spirit of mutual cooperation in Mataram. The research highlights the dynamic adaptation of Pancasila values in the context of Indonesia's transition from colonialism to independence, its role as a national guiding principle, and its resurgence in contemporary society through tolerance, deliberation, patriotism, and solidarity.
