PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI ANAK PAUD KOBER DARUL HUDA MELALUI PLAY-BASED LEARNING

Abstract

Observation and Implementation Activities This learning activity aims to improve cognitive abilities in early childhood so they can recognize numbers and sequence numbers, as well as understand play-based learning and local culture. This research took place at Kober Darul Huda Preschool (PAUD) in Tasikmalaya City, with 15 students aged 4–6 years. Observations and interviews with PAUD educators revealed that some students still had difficulty recognizing number symbols and sequencing numbers, and they also had difficulty understanding simple addition concepts. To address this issue, two play-based learning media were designed: UIA (Urang Itung Apel) and Oray-Orayan, which integrate students’ motor skills and local Sundanese cultural values. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in students’ ability to recognize numbers and solve simple addition problems. All students’ posttest scores improved compared to their pretest scores, accompanied by increased enthusiasm, focus, and active participation during the learning process. This has proven highly effective in improving basic numeracy skills in early childhood while instilling local cultural values such as togetherness, discipline, mutual cooperation, and respect for regional languages.
