Abstract

This study aims to develop a Sundanese culture-based learning medium called Mufrodat Matching Board to improve Arabic vocabulary mastery in early childhood. The study uses a qualitative approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and quantitative evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The research was conducted at DTA Ar-Rohmat with 22 students aged 5-12 years as research subjects, accompanied by 5 tutors as learning facilitators. The Mufrodat Matching Board media integrates visual-kinesthetic elements with local Sundanese cultural wisdom, displaying images of traditional professions, familiar places, and everyday objects. Research findings show the significant effectiveness of this medium in improving vocabulary comprehension, as evidenced by an increase in the average score from 42.0 to 78.46 (an increase of 86.57%), as well as a surge in the completion rate from 25% to 84.6%. This approach successfully created an engaging, participatory, and collaborative learning environment that not only developed cognitive-linguistic abilities but also trained fine motor skills, social cooperation, and strengthened cultural identity. The study concluded that local culture-based learning media that are appropriate for children's developmental characteristics can be an effective solution to overcome the challenges of Arabic vocabulary mastery while preserving local cultural values
