This study discusses learning difficulties in understanding tajwid, particularly the rules of nun mati/tanwin and qalqalah, which are often encountered in non-formal Islamic education settings. Conventional teaching methods that rely on lectures and limited learning media often result in low student engagement and uneven understanding. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of digital game-based learning media in improving students' understanding of tajwid. This study uses a pretest-posttest experimental design involving 25 students from a non-formal religious learning community. Data were collected through written tests administered before and after the implementation of digital games and learning-based card games, accompanied by observations of student participation. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of tajwid concepts, as reflected in higher posttest scores and increased confidence in applying tajwid rules during reading practice. The use of interactive digital games and visual media contributed to increased student engagement and facilitated clearer conceptual understanding. Digital game-based learning media has been proven effective in improving tajwid comprehension in non-formal education contexts and can be an alternative instructional approach to support learning.
