Abstract

Climate change poses a global challenge, and Indonesia is particularly vulnerable to its impacts. The
Climate Village Program (Proklim) represents the government's initiative to mitigate the effects of
climate change, with community participation playing a pivotal role in its success. Community
participation involves the active involvement of local residents in all stages of program
implementation, encompassing planning, execution, evaluation, and results utilization. This study
focuses on analyzing community participation in the Proklim implementation within Palasari Hamlet,
Sukahurip Village, Cihaurbeuti District, Ciamis Regency, West Java, using qualitative research
methods. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The
findings reveal positive community participation throughout the Proklim implementation in Palasari
Hamlet. From the planning phase, where the community contributes ideas and thoughts, to the
implementation stage, where residents actively engage in activities such as tree planting, well
construction, and composting. During the harvest utilization phase, the community experiences
tangible benefits such as improved water availability, cleaner air, and increased agricultural
productivity. Despite these successes, there are areas for improvement. Enhancing community
capacity in Proklim activities is essential, along with increased support from regional and central
government authorities. Strengthening these aspects will contribute to the sustainability and
effectiveness of Proklim in addressing climate change impacts in Palasari Hamlet.
