Abstract

The condition of parents who work and have early childhood is faced with difficult choices to work or take care of children, this is what often makes parents, especially female parents, experience a dilemma. For this reason, daycare is present as a childcare institution that continues to pay attention to children's growth and development. The purpose of this study is to understand the parenting style carried out at Inba Happy Kids Daycare, Garut Regency. The method used in this study is qualitative. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results indicate that the parenting styles applied at Daycare Inba Happy Kids consist of three styles: (a) a democratic parenting style that is implemented in most activities at the daycare, where children are involved in discussing viewing choices and determining the activities they want to do, and this is evident in the many moments and activities at the daycare that prioritize the democratic parenting style, which includes giving children the opportunity to express their opinions during discussions, cooperating, and other activities; (b) a permissive parenting style that is applied after regular classes are over, allowing children to play from when they return from school until daycare activities start, which coincides with the lunch break for teachers and caregivers, even if it lasts only half an hour to one hour; (c) an authoritarian parenting style that is applied during prayers and other mandatory activities. So it can be concluded that the parenting patterns applied in daycare to children are democratic parenting, authoritarian parenting, and permissive parenting. All three are applied but have a greater tendency to apply a democratic parenting style.
